Crypto networks and fees: TRC-20 vs ERC-20 and how to pick the right one

TL;DR

Ethereum fees collapsed after the recent network upgrades — as of 2026, a typical ERC-20 USDT transfer costs a few cents, often less than TRC-20 USDT which has a fixed ~$1 fee. ERC-20 is the new default for stablecoin deposits unless gas spikes during heavy load. TRC-20 stays the safe fallback. The single biggest rule still holds: the network you pick in the BlastBet UI must match the network you send from. Sending USDT-ERC-20 to a TRC-20 address loses the funds permanently.

Networks at a glance

NetworkCoinsTypical feeConfirmation timeRecommendation
ERC-20 (Ethereum)USDT, USDC, ETHA few cents to a dollar (gas-dependent)1–5 minBest default for stablecoins today
TRC-20 (Tron)USDT, TRX~$1 fixed~1 minReliable fallback, predictable cost
BTC mainnetBTCModerate~10 min per confirmationUse for native Bitcoin
LTC mainnetLTCCents~2.5 min per blockCheap and fast non-stablecoin option
TONGRAMSub-centSecondsTiny budget, very fast

BlastBet requires 1 network confirmation on every chain before crediting your balance.

How to pick the right network

  • Stablecoin user, no preference? Check Ethereum gas at etherscan.io/gastracker. If gas is calm (under ~5 gwei → cents per transfer), pick ERC-20. If gas has spiked above ~50 gwei, switch to TRC-20 for the predictable ~$1.
  • You already have funds on Ethereum? ERC-20 is the obvious pick. No bridge needed.
  • You hold USDT on Tron? Stay on TRC-20. Predictable, fast, no surprises.
  • You want native Bitcoin? Use BTC mainnet. Confirmation is slower but the fee is predictable.
  • Small deposit, want speed? TON or LTC both confirm in seconds to a couple of minutes with negligible fees.
  • Holding TRX? Send on TRC-20 — it is the native chain.

Common mistakes

  • Selecting one network in the BlastBet UI, then sending on a different chain from your wallet. The address is chain-specific. Always confirm the network in both places.
  • Reusing an old deposit address. Addresses can rotate between sessions. Open the Deposit page and copy a fresh address every time.
  • Sending below the minimum. Deposits under $10 USD equivalent may not be credited automatically.
  • Assuming ERC-20 is always expensive. That changed in 2026 — base fees are now usually a few cents. The old "always pick TRC-20 for cheap" advice is outdated. Check the gas tracker each time.

Watchouts

  • Wrong network = lost funds. This is the single biggest risk. USDT exists on multiple chains (TRC-20, ERC-20, and others) but addresses are not interchangeable. Sending USDT-ERC-20 to a TRC-20 address cannot be reversed by BlastBet or by anyone else.
  • Network fees are paid by you, on the sender side. BlastBet does not charge a deposit fee, but the chain itself does.
  • Gas can still spike. Ethereum is cheap most of the time but heavy load (popular NFT mint, major DeFi event) can push fees back into the dollars-to-tens-of-dollars range. Check before sending.
  • Final exchange rate is locked at confirmation, not at send. The amount credited matches the USD equivalent at the time of confirmation.
